How to Calculate Total Hours between Two Dates

Dear readers,

May be some of you has been confused by calculating total hours between two dates. May be you have tried so many ways and searched for the best tips but the result is not satisfy enough, perhaps for its format...or something else.

But, don't worry. I will share the easy way to calculate it using excel in two styles: hours with minute and total hours in decimal.

Ok. Just follow the steps.

1. Create a new spreadsheet.
2. Type the first and second date with its time. Right click to format cell into date type as the following picture:

3. To calculate total hours in decimal is using this formula: (ending - beginning) x 24 hours or in excel: =(C3-B3)*24. Just set the value into number type.

4. To calculate total hours in hours with minute is using this formula: (ending - beginning) or in excel: =(C3-B3) and set the value by right click to format cel into custom date [hh]:mm.
